backyard dreams

The summer collection from Pottery Barn arrived in the mail today. Leafing through it's pages, I found myself experiencing a strong urge to buy a home with a big backyard. Not to be a home owner or move into one of the final stages of adulthood. No, I wanted to buy a house so I could put Pottery Barn stuff in the backyard. I would also order some of the views in the backyard, if I could...

outdoor furniture like that confuses me. As beautiful as it is, and I would LOVE to have something like that outdoors as well... but doesn't it get all nasty? What about mold from nightly dew? What about rain? Bird Poop?

...yes, I capitalized Poop.

Wow! It's all beautiful.. but i have to agree with Michele in the comment before... how does it stay clean?

I love this stuff! I almost wish I was a proper grown up too to buy it. But, I agree it just looks like hard work to keep clean! And protected by storms.

Of course, after spending probably thousands of dollars to put this beautiful furniture in your backyard, you'll have to spend at least another grand to purchase the custome fit covers for them. The folks at PB are brilliant I tell ya... brilliant.

I think it's gorgeous! I love that swing.

After having owned a yard & lawn furniture (indirectly) and also watching you-know-who's parents, when you have good lawn furniture, the cushions all get stored in watertight containers (like big storage chests) and you only put the cushions out when you're going to use the furniture. As for the actual furniture part, if it's meant for outdoors, it can usually handle being pressure washed but you would probably need to restain & seal it at the beginning of each season.

I'd just be happy with a little patch of grass where I could plant a few flowers, maybe a tree and call it a day. Ahhh, life in the city!
