3 1/2 weeks in

And I have only 1 1/2 days left of work until my vacation! Hooray! I can really start to get excited tomorrow after our big operative cases, though. Hopefully they won't go super long. I really have so much to update, but not any time, so I'll make a list. Lists are good. Succinct. Efficient.

  • Have you ever watched a fast typist type? Not like the words on the screen, but their fingers? It's so amazing. And cool. Crazy that our brain can really coordinate thoughts, arrange them into language, and then instruct our fingers to fly across a keyboard to get them onto a computer screen.
  • All the ribbing I've been getting at work about the Red Sox's slump in the last few weeks have subsided. I guess a guaranteed spot in the post season is enough to shut up most people.
  • I took a fashion risk today. I'm wearing trouser shorts and a blouse with an argyle vest. One of the nurses asked if I just came in from jumping rope outside. :-P
  • Sometimes if you have cancer, it's better to not have surgery. Not everyone needs to die with a fresh incision.
  • It's premier week on tv. I'm missing all the new shows.
  • I haven't worked out in like 2 1/2 weeks. I'm dying. My muscles are in a state of atrophy. My ass is widening. So on vacation, I will actually exercise.

2 1/2 weeks in...

... and 6 more to go. In those 2 1/2 weeks I've seen some crazy stuff, and I'm sure there is more extreme surgery ahead. Of course, with extreme surgery come extreme complications and that is where the stress and work lies. I miss blogging and I miss my other blogging friends. :-(

In ten more days, though, I get an entire week of vacation with a bonus extra weekend before! When we get a "week" of vacation, it literally means one week. Seven days. If you're lucky enough to get the weekend off before your week, then you're, well... lucky. But it almost *never* works out that way. Except this time! Hooray! So I get *nine* whole days off! And when I return from that, I'll have 3 1/2 weeks to go!

Wait. I'm getting ahead of myself.

Six to go.

new rotation

This week I began a new rotation. One of, if not the hardest, of my entire residency. What I like to call the "pay-your-bills-and-kiss-your-family-goodbye" service. (The terms rotation and service are pretty much interchangable.) Needless to say, I'll have not much time to blog. Less than the already pitiful amount. Not much to blog about anyway, since my entire existence will be working, eating, showering and sleeping. If I'm lucky I'll get to exercise.
